After narrowly missing out on gold in the 3m Springboard yesterday, Jack Laugher said he was going to “smash it up” in the Synchro 3m Springboard, and along with Chris Mears he certainly did so, winning his third medal of the competition.
With huge scores on three of the dives, the pair topped the podium with a final score of 431.94, more than 25 points ahead of Australia’s Matthew Mitcham and Grant Nel (403.14). Joining them on the podium were two more Team England divers, Nick Robinson-Baker and Freddie Woodward, who scored 364.41 to win bronze.
Team England’s Hannah Starling, Rebecca Gallantree and Alicia Blagg all qualified for the final of the 1m Springboard, and against some strong competition finished in seventh, ninth and tenth respectively.
The final event of the day was the Men’s Synchronised 10m Platform, where Tom Daley and James Denny were in action for Team England. In a very tight competition, a spectacular final dive from Daley and Denny scored an unbelievable 95.46, but was just 0.18 points short of the top spot, however was enough to secure them silver to close another successful day for Team England.
