The FINA World Junior Diving Championships are held every two years, and this year the event took place in Penza, Russia.
All events included both Group A (16-18 yrs), and Group B (14-15 yrs) age group competitions.
The British Gas GBR Diving team faced some tough competition but finished the event with one silver and two bronze medals.
In the Group B Platform event, Lois Toulson produced a fantastic final dive to take her up the leader board from seventh to second, securing the silver medal with a final score of 352.90.
Ruby Bower finished in ninth place with 332.30 points, and in the Group A event Shanice Lobb finished in tenth with a score of 384.25.
The second individual medal came also came in the Group A Platform event, from Kyle Kothari, who performed consistently before impressing with his penultimate dive helping towards his final score of 536.00, securing his first World bronze medal.
GBR’s other medal position came from James Heatly and Sam Thornton who took bronze in the 3m Synchro, finishing with a score of 305.88. In the girls’ event Lois Toulson and Millie Haffety scored 228.57 to finish tenth.
In the Group A 1m Springboard Francesca Del Celo finished in fifth place with a score of 399.40 while Katherine Torrance secured ninth place with 379.75 points.
In Group B Alicia Leach finished in seventh place with 326.00 points, and Millie Haffety finished with a score of 312.60 for tenth place. Haffety also finished 11th in the 3m Springboard with 188.55 points.
Torrance and Del Cero were also in action in the 3m Springboard, finishing in sixth (436.30) and seventh (430.35) respectively.
In the group B Platform event Noah Williams scored 426.80 to finish sixth and Matthew Dixon finished in eighth place with a score of 404.60. Find out more about Matthew Dixon in Looking Glass.
