15-year-old Imogen Smith first competed with her club, Rushmoor Synchronised SC, at the British Gas Championships in 2008, achieving golds in both the Duet Free and Team Free events. She continued to achieve well earning Solo Free medals in 2010 and 2012. This year Imogen made her international debut competing for GBR in the Junior European Champs, and was also the youngest of nine selected as part of the full-time training squad to be based at British Synchro’s High Performance Centre in Aldershot.

Who has been the greatest influence on you: My mum - to keep me positive when feeling low and to help to get to places and to cheer me on.
When did you begin synchro: When I was seven.
OUT OF THE POOL
Family members: My mum is involved in synchro. She coaches the the 12/u at Rushmoor.
Studies: GCSEs at the moment. My school, Churcher’s College in Petersfield have been brilliant at helping me keep up with my lessons as I only manage to go to school two full days and three afternoons each week due to training.
Ultimate relaxation: Listening to music.
One thing you can’t live without: Tiger and Mousey.
Tip for the top: Train to the best every session.
Life after swimming: University and then on to get a good job.
Sports: Swimming, synchro.
Films: Any horror movie.
Music: The XX and Muse.
Food: Tuna pasta bake.
