Former international teammates Lucy Bowes and Genevieve Randall were reunited as they shared the top step of the podium on the second day of the 2014 ASA National Age Group Synchronised Swimming Championships in Gloucester.
Bowes – who swims for Trafford Synchro – won the domestic 15-17 Yrs Solo title while Randall, competing for the England Talent squad, took top honours in the International category.
“I’ve not seen Gen swim for a very long time so being up there with her receiving our gold medals at the same time was just wonderful,” said Bowes.
In the 13-14 Yrs Age Group, Kate Shortman won Solo gold ahead of Bristol Central teammate Isabelle Thorpe, reversing their rankings from the U12 age group 12 months ago.
This year’s U12 Duet went to Reading Royals’ Mimi Gray and Abi Taylor who upgraded on their bronze from last year and were joined by Anna Welland, Isobel Blinkhorn, Carys Larson and Alyssa Basinger as Reading completed the first clean sweep of the Championships.
Finally, Rosie Barrington enjoyed a day to remember as she claimed the 18-19 Yrs Solo title and competed with City of Leeds teammate Alice Dewhurst as the only entries in the 18-19 Yrs Duet.
