Brodie Williams and Cameron Kurle landed golden doubles for Millfield on the opening day of the 2015 ASA South Zonal Championships at London Aquatics Centre.
Williams turned in one of the performances of the day to win the 16 Yrs / Under 100m Backstroke, becoming the eighth fastest British 15-year old of all time with a 58.31 personal best in the final.
The 15-year old then doubled up with a PB 2:10.02 to take the 200m IM title in the afternoon session in London.
Teammate Kurle starred in the 17 Yrs / Over age group, beating the four minute mark for the first time to claim the 400m Freestyle in 3:57.40 before adding the 100m Freestyle title in a PB 52.05.
In the women’s events, Thanet’s Katie Latham and Guildford’s Alicia Wilson both also won two titles on the opening day.
In one of the most exciting finals of the night, Latham clocked the second fastest time of her career to take the 15 Yrs / Over 200m Freestyle title in 2:04.67 from Woking’s Hannah Burvill in 2:04.71, having already landed the 50m Free crown in 26.23.
Meanwhile, Wilson claimed her double in the 14 Yrs / Under 100m Breast, tying her PB of 1:12.71, and the 400m IM, sneaking under her PB with a 5:07.18 effort.
Among the other impressive performers at London were 14-year old Reading swimmer Bethany Hunt, who blew away her PBs for 50m Free gold and 200m Free silver, and 12-year old Abingdon Vale swimmer Emily Ford, who was the fourth fastest swimmer in any age group in the 50m Fly as she took 14 Yrs / Under gold in a PB 28.93.
