Bristol Central threw Group A of the 2015 British Water Polo Championship qualifiers wide open with a 9-5 defeat of City of Manchester last weekend.
Last year’s runners-up Manchester had sat top of the division as the only team to win their opening two matches, but lost their 100 per cent record as they failed to recover from an early 4-1 deficit.
Scotland’s Portobello beat Polytechnic 11-7 in the other game in Group A to ensure they, Bristol and Manchester are all tied on six points with three games to play.
Defending champions Cheltenham maintained their perfect record in Group B as they saw of Sheffield 18-14 in front of a packed house at GL1 Leisure Centre in Gloucester.
Victory ensured they stay top of the group with nine points from three games while Invicta won 12-8 at Lancaster to pick up their first points of the campaign.
