Blackpool’s Shauntelle Austin scooped an impressive four golds at the first stage of the Lancashire ASA County Championships in Liverpool.
Competing in the 16 and Over age group, the 18-year old was fastest in the 200m Backstroke (2:17.50), 400m Individual Medley (4:58.05), 100m Backstroke (1:04.49) and 200m Butterfly (2:15.66).
Pioneer 79 swimmer Niamh Robinson was also on top form in Liverpool, diving a second and a half under her PB to claim the 200m Individual Medley title in 2:19.28 while the 16-year old also picked up 200m Breaststroke (2:34.20) gold and set a PB 1:05.42 for silver behind Austin in the 100m Back.
Among the other female age groups, Crosby’s Athena Clayson caught the eyewith a hat-trick of golds.
The 13-year old was competing in the 14 Yrs age group and landed 200m IM (2:31.09) gold before clocking a two-second PB of 2:24.15 to finish fourth fastest in all age groups in the 200m Back then another PB of 1:06.71 in the 100m Back.
City of Salford’s Matthew George proved irrepressible in the boys 15 Yrs age group, claiming victories over 200m Back (2:14.93), 200m Individual Medley (2:17.14), 200m Butterfly (2:14.07 PB) and setting the fastest time overall in the 400m Individual Medley (4:48.96).
Meanwhile, 18-year old teammate Scott Cummings claimed the 100m and 200m Backstroke double in the 16 and Over age group while another Salford swimmer, Ben Kerry, touched a season’s best 2:04.50 to land the 200m Butterfly title.
