Siobhan-Marie O’Connor and Michael Jamieson secured the top results from the British swimmers on the opening day of the Golden Tour Meet in Marseille.
The National Performance Centre Bath swimmers both landed silvers competing in the 200m Freestyle and 200m Breaststroke respectively.
O’Connor – who won Commonwealth silver over 200m Free last year – clocked her second fastest time of the season to touch second in 1:58.37 with teammate Jazz Carlin two places back in fourth on 1:59.03.
Jamieson was also competing with his teammate and long-time rival Andrew Willis, the British swimmers finishing second and third in 2:12.88 and 2:13.22 respectively behind Germany’s European champion Marco Koch’s 2:10.68.
Matthew Johnson was the only other British swimmer to claim a medal on the night, touching in 4:23.46 for 400m IM bronze while Chris Walker-Hebborn (25.51) and Jemma Lowe (2:10.31) were fourth in the 50m Backstroke and 200m Butterfly respectively.
