Tonia Couch was the top British performer on day three of the FINA/NVC Diving World Series opening leg in Beijing, finishing fourth in the 10m Platform.
The Brit – who finished fourth in the same event at last year’s World Cup – scored over 350 in both semi final and final in China.
But Couch’s final tally of 351.90 saw her fall narrowly shy of the podium as China’s Liu Huixia (423.10) and Chen Ruolin (398.90) claimed the top two spots ahead of Canada’s Meaghan Benfeito (393.45).
Sarah Barrow was also in action in the women’s event, finishing fourth in her semi-final on 334.30 with only the top three progressing to the final.
Olympic bronze medallist Tom Daley also finished fourth in his 10m semi-final, dropping two of his opening four dives before recovering to score 97.20 for his back 3 ½ somersaults piked then 96.90 for his final reverse 3 ½ somersaults with tuck to finish on 446.35.
And while his score would have seen him qualify from the second semi final, he missed out as China’s Olympic silver medallist Qiu Bo, USA’s Olympic gold medallist David Boudia and Germany’s European bronze medallist Sasha Klein all outscored the Brit in Daley’s semi.
