Jarvis Parkinson starred on the second day of the 2015 British Swimming Championships in London to land junior 200m Individual Medley gold in a record-breaking final.
Having claimed the English 17 Yrs Age Group record with a 2:03.87 effort in the heats, the Doncaster Dartes swimmer sliced nearly a second and a half off the marker again in the final as he touched for 16/17 Yrs gold in 2:02.43.
Plymouth’s Joseph Hulme followed Parkinson home for silver in the final, also claiming a domestic record with a new English 17 Yrs Age Group marker.
Hulme cut more than two seconds off his personal best from the heats to touch in 2:02.95 with Hatfield’s Martyn Walton also ducking under the old English 17 Yrs Age Group record in a personal best 2:03.47.
The 14/15 Yrs 200m IM final was won by Millfield’s impressive Brodie Williams, clinching his third gold in two days with a two-second personal best of 2:06.42.
Among the other impressive junior performances on day two, Southport’s Holly Hibbott claimed her first gold of the meet with a PB 4:13.59 in the 15/16 Yrs 400m Freestyle final while City of Leeds swimmer Layla Black ducked under 2:30 for the first time over 200m Breaststroke to win the 15/16 Yrs title in a PB 2:29.30.
