The FINA World Junior Swimming Championships will take place in Singapore this August for the world’s best swimmers aged between 14 and 18.
The British team has now been selected following performances at the British Swimming Champs and consists of twelve athletes who will be accompanied by three coaches.
"I believe this group of young athletes will rise to the challenge" - Tim Jones
The six girls and six boys will travel to Thailand enroute to Singapore for a pre-event camp.
British Swimming Head of Performance Pathways Tim Jones will lead the team.
“It’s a strong team that includes medal opportunities but our longer term aim and belief is that this group of athletes will support British Swimming’s overall Rio 2016 Olympic ambitions”, said Jones.
He continued, “It will be a big challenge for nine of the team as they have to face two major meets this summer – the European Games in Baku followed by the World Junior Championships. I believe this group of young athletes will rise to the challenge.”
