The stars were out in force as Plymouth Leander landed won the Arena League Cup final for the fourth year in a row.
No other swimming competition mixes top senior swimmers with the youngest age group swimmers at clubs and, once again, this year’s finals were exciting spectacles.
Plymouth’s cause was boosted by the presence of their three world class senior swimmers; World and Olympic champion Ruta Meilutyte, Commonwealth medalist Antony James and Commonwealth champion Ben Proud.
Proud (100m Free) and James (100m Fly) both delivered in their main events while Meilutyte bagged the 200m IM and 100m Breast double.
There were also junior victories for Sam Dailley (13&U 100m Free and 100m Fly), Oscar Brain (13&U 100m Back) and Laura Stephens (15&U 100m Fly).
Among the other big stars on show in Cardiff, Britain’s golden boy Adam Peaty did the business with 100m Breaststroke gold for City of Derby while Denmark’s double World Championship gold medallist Jeanette Ottesen took the touch in the 100m Fly for Guildford and Lauren Quigley won the 100m Free and 100m Back double for Stockport Metro.
