The British swimming team bound for the 2015 World Championships have begun their countdown to the event in Kazan.
"The entire World Championship team will attend the camp which provides a great opportunity to practice the behaviours that are a priority of the national team going forward," - Bill Furniss.
The 29-strong squad have travelled to a nine-day training camp in Vichy, France, after which they will head on to the Canet and Barcelona legs of the 2015 Mare Nostrum international swimming series.
“This programme of camp and competition offers a great opportunity for athletes and coaches,” said Furniss.
“The entire World Championship team will attend the camp which provides a great opportunity to practice the behaviours that are a priority of the national team going forward.
“It also aligns with the racing strategy for the group as they go into two tough competitions at the Mare Nostrum off the back of a hard week of training at the camp in France.”
Furniss also believes the tour will offer unique preparation for those taking part in the World Championships.
“The events offer us the chance to promote that invaluable team dynamic as athletes will be working with the coaches who will lead their specific groups this summer. It’s a good opportunity for groups to work together in both a training and competition environment ahead of our target event of the year.
“We will look to repeat this type of schedule around the European Championships in London next year in the lead up to the Olympics. There is a real benefit to going through the same process this year – it provides the squad with consistency as we move towards Rio.”
