Henry Biggs and Alex Kostov provided a thrilling finale to the 1m Springboard competition on day two of the 2015 ASA National Age Group Diving Championships in Sheffield.
With less than five points separating the two divers going into the last round of dives, Biggs - who was diving last out of everyone in the competition - needed 42.75 for his last dive to leapfrog the defending champion and win his first individual national title.
And the 15-year old Luton diver delivered in some style, scoring 7s and 7.5s for his final dive to receive a mark of 49.20 and win gold on 316.70 to Kostov's 310.25.
“I just tried to relax and go for it on that last dive," said Biggs.
"I was already getting quite excited throughout the competition but I just had to keep calm and power through it.
"I haven’t won a gold at this competition for three years – I’ve always had silver so it’s good to finish on top.”
There were also victories for Crystal Palace's Lexie Howard in the Group A 1m Springboard and Southend's Max Lano in the Boys Group C Platform event.
