Dive London’s Georgia Ward marked her debut senior European Championship with a seventh place finish in the 10m Platform on the opening day of individual competition in Rostock.
The 19-year old, who has won Mixed 10m Synchro medals at FINA World Series and FINA Grand Prix level this season, scored 284.80 in the final, beating the 50 mark for all five of her dives.
Ward’s top mark from both prelim – where she qualified third on 287.20 – and final was for her Back 2 ½ Somersaults 1 ½ Twists piked, scoring 70.40 in the prelim and 67.20 in the final.
Ukraine’s World Championship bronze medallist Yulia Prokopchuk took gold on 327.50.
City of Sheffield’s Freddie Woodward also made his first European final in Rostock in the 1m Springboard.
Woodward, who won the British 1m title in 2014 before landing Commonwealth 3m Synchro bronze with Nick Robinson-Baker, qualified fifth for the final but saw a dropped dive in the second round put paid to his chances in the final as he finished 12th overall on 300.50.
