Luke Greenbank added to Team GB’s gold medal tally on day two of the European Games swimming at the Baku Aquatics Centre.
Setting a British Age Group record in the 100m Backstroke semi of 54.65, the 17-year old went on to seal GB’s fourth swimming gold. Teammate Joe Hulme just missed out on a medal with a fourth place finish.
"The semi final swim definitely gave me confidence,” Greenbank said. “I was nervous going into the final I’m not going to lie but that happens with every race really. You just have to get past that and focus on what you have to do.”
Greenbank believes his 2014 Youth Olympics bronze boosted his chances in Baku.

Team GB's second swimming medal of the day came from Luke Davies, bagging 200m Breaststroke bronze having swam a PB in the heat. Fourth placed Charlie Attwood added to the days' successes setting a new 17 Yrs British Age Group record with 2:13.62.
“I know it was going to be hard to catch him (Russia's Anton Chupkov - gold) because I know he is fast but it was a good experience to swim next to him," said Davies. “I’ve looked at how he does the 200 breast and looked at how I could change to close the gap because he’s a fantastic swimmer."
With two relay medals already under their belt Team GB topped the day off hitting the hat-trick with 4x100m Freestyle Mixed Relay silver.
Duncan Scott and Martyn Walton led the quartet out of the blocks before Darcy Deakin and Georgia Coates finished the race off in 3:32.65 behind a strong Russian team claiming gold in 3:30.30.
There were more records set in the semis with Layla Black qualifying for day three's 200m Breaststroke in 2:27.09 to set a new 14 Yrs British Age Group record, and Walton with a PB 2:03.17 to make the 200m IM final.
Also in action were Holly Hibbott losing out on a podium place by 0.04 seconds in the 400m Free and placing eighth in the 200m Fly while teammate Amelia Clynes finished sixth.
