City of Sheffield’s top junior swimmers were in red-hot form as they played host to a handful of rival clubs at this weekend’s long course Teaspoon Gala at Ponds Forge.
With heats and finals held for 50m Free, Breast, Fly and Back, Maddie Dyer caught the eye with a clean sweep in the 13 Yrs age group while European Youth Olympic Festival (EYOF) finalist Elliott Clogg landed double gold.
Clogg missed this year’s British Summer Championships to compete at EYOF in Tbilisi, finishing sixth in the 100m Backstroke in Georgia.
And the 15-year old underlined his national talent in Sheffield, winning the 50m Freestyle and 50m Backstroke titles in the open age group at Ponds Forge, the latter in a PB 27.48 – the third fastest time from a British 15-year old this year.
Dyer, who secured top six finishes in the 100m Back, 200m Back and 400m IM at the British Summer Nationals, showed her improvement in the sprint events with three PBs on the day.
