Georgia Coates and Joe Litchfield starred with multiple golds at the North East Region Short Course Championships.
Double World Junior Championship medallist Coates put in the two top performances of the weekend, claiming the 400m Individual Medley title in a PB of 4:37.39 before setting another lifetime best of 4:10.53 to claim the 400m Freestyle title later in the same session.
The City of Leeds 16-year old also claimed gold in the 200m Breast and 200m Back, touching in PBs of 2:27.03 and 2:14.09 respectively.
Doncaster Dartes swimmer Litchfield went one better in the boys’ events, winning five individual titles across the two-day meet.
Litchfield’s top performance came in the 200m Butterfly as he clocked 1:58.65, while the 17-year old also set lifetime bests for gold in the 200m Free (1:49.28), 50m Fly (24.36) and 200m IM (2:01.59).
His fifth gold came in the 400m IM where Litchfield touched home in 4:18.54, the second fastest time of his career behind an impressive 4:11.51 blast from the City of Cardiff Open Meet earlier in November.
Billingham’s Stephanie Blakeburn and Sedgefield’s Hannah Featherstone were among the other impressive winners of the weekend.
Blakeburn landed a hat-trick of wins with PBs in the 100m Fly (59.82), 200m Fly (2:11.37) and 200m IM (2:13.96).
Meanwhile, 16-year old Featherstone won the 200m Free in a rapid 2:00.46, before doubling up over 100m Free with a PB of 56.07.
