The second leg of the FINA Diving World Series is set to kick off in Dubai tomorrow at the Hamdan Sports Complex, with six of Britain’s best divers set to take the stage from 17 – 19 March.
Last week’s competition in Beijing saw some impressive performances from the Brits, with two bronze medals secured in the 10m Synchro events, for Tom Daley and Dan Goodfellow in the men’s event, and Tonia Couch and teenager Lois Toulson in the women’s.
Both synchro pairings are relatively newly formed, so vital experience is gained and relationships are developed with every dive together throughout the World Series events, crucial with the Olympics now only months away. Can the two pairs get their hands on more silverware in Dubai? Fingers crossed!
After winning bronze in the synchro event, Daley only just missed out on a medal in the 10m Platform individual in the Beijing leg, finishing fourth, less then a point behind third place. Check out his vlog below to find out his thoughts on the Beijing competition and to catch up on how he got on:
Mears and Laugher
On the 3m Springboard, Chris Mears and Jack Laugher will be hoping to make some improvements on their performance in the synchro event from last week, where they finished sixth after a disappointing final few dives and will no doubt be in contention for a medal if they can maintain consistent form throughout.
The 10m Platform individual event will see Couch looking to improve on her fifth place finish in Beijing, whilst Laugher will be hoping to clinch a medal in the 3m Springboard.
