The ASA had a successful Volunteers’ Week, which ran from 1 - 7 June this year, when they celebrated the fantastic contribution of the volunteer workforce.
Volunteers’ Week, which has now been running for 30 years, is an annual campaign led by Volunteering England and the National Council for Voluntary Organisations (NCVO), to celebrate the fantastic contribution that volunteers make across the country.
The enthusiasm and hard work of the thousands of volunteers in swimming, is at the heart of it all. Becky Milnes, Volunteer Engagement Officer at the ASA said, ‘Volunteers are the lifeblood of our sport and without them aquatics just wouldn’t happen’.
As part of the week the ASA held a selfie competition, for photos including essential volunteering items such a stopwatch, as well as a club photo competition for the most inspired image of the people that give their time, which was won by Wigan Wasps Swimming Club.
