Reading Royals synchro star Emma Critchley made her International debut as part of the 12-strong GBR synchro team competing at the French Open in March 2014, where they finished fifth in the Free Combination event. 15-year-old Emma first started synchro when she was 10 years old, having been inspired by seeing it on television. Critchley went on to compete as part of the British Gas GBR Synchronisd Swimming Team at the 2014 LEN European Championships in Berlin, and as part of the England Talent team at the Mediterranean Cup the following month.

Who has been greatest influence on you: My teammates, family and coaches, especially Jenny Gray.
When did you begin synchro: When I was 10 years old. I saw Synchro on TV and thought it looked amazing. At the time I was doing gymnastics, swimming and dance. Synchro combines them all.
OUT OF THE POOL
If I wasn’t a swimmer I would be: Doing a different sport - maybe gymnastics.
Tip for the top: Stay focused and never give up.
Life after swimming: Go to University.

Most prized possession: My phone.
Sports: Synchro, gymnastics and netball.
Music: Chart music
Food: Pizza and ice cream.
Hobbies: Watching films and playing sport - not much time for other sports now but I still occasionally get to play a netball match and do the odd gym session!
