Hannah Miley and Adam Peaty both won silver as the British Swimming team kicked off their European Short Course campaign in Netanya, Israel.
Commonwealth champion Miley was the first to reach the podium, touching third in the 400m Individual Medley before being upgraded to silver after the disqualification of second-placed Zsuzsanna Jakabos.
Hungary’s world champion Katinka Hosszu won gold in 4:19.75 while Miley took second spot on 4:26.87 ahead of France’s Lara Grangeon (4:27.31).
The result earned Miley the eighth European Short Course Championship medal of her career.
Peaty – who has been shortlisted for the 2015 BBC Sports Personality of the Year award – qualified fastest from the 50m Breaststroke semi finals but was denied by the narrowest of margins in the final.
Slovenia’s Damir Dugonjic ultimately took gold in 26.20 with Peaty behind in 26.21 and Russia’s Oleg Kostin third in 26.35.
Jazz Carlin was among the other British swimmers in action on day one in Israel, qualifying second fastest for tomorrow night's 800m Freestyle final.
